Making Space for Social Distancing

Use High-Density Vertical Storage to Recover 85% Floor Space

With the new guidelines and recommendations for social distancing in the workplace, manufacturing and distribution centers find themselves squeezed for space now more than ever. To keep workers safe and operations running, many are reconfiguring their operations to allow for 6-feet between workers at all times. Physically separating workstations, installing hand sanitizing stations and reworking traffic flows leave facilities in need of more space. Implementing automation now frees up floor space for social distancing. It also requires less labor and often has an ROI of under 18 months when compared to shelving.

By design, shelving has three main space limitations:
1. Wasted Storage Capacity
2. Wasted Aisle Space
3. Wasted Ceiling Height

Unless you move or expand the size of your current warehouse, space isn’t going to increase (it may even be decreasing!). Vertical storage can be used to recover up to 85% of the floor space currently occupied by shelving and drawers by eliminating the aisle spacing and utilizing the full ceiling height of your facility.
